Today was a day of contrasts.

We are trying to figure out a country where safaris and al-Shabab share the same terrain.  So far, my experiences here make this one of the strangest places I have ever been.

For advice we could perhaps call Dr. Karim who seems to have a mental health practice that covers all the basics.  Or we could call his partner Dr. Khalif who has a similar business, he just does not deal with problems with politics. I'll try to get a photo of Dr. Khalif's sign another day.

For now though, we rejoice that God brought friends randomly into our life. This evening we (Travis, Darlene, and myself) were walking down Gitanga Road near the Jesuit Refugee Services office, towards a shopping center to grab dinner. We arrived at the complex and realized that we were staring directly into the face of Tom Walsh, a friend from DC and Church of the Rez goer.  And who is he with? That is correct, the Kenyan doctors who he was planning to introduce us to.

We did not plan this meeting, we did not know that Tom was still in Kenya. Nairobi is a city of 4 million people with more than enough places to eat.  Yet there they were. We ended up eating dinner with Tom, Patrick and Grace (the Kenyan doctors), and their two sons and nephew, and were able to process the day.  Patrick and Grace also kindly invited us over for dinner next Saturday.  Dr. Karim may be knowledgeable, but we thank God for guiding our steps.

Hey Megan, God is good. Darlene pointed out that if Tom had been sitting down we probably would have never noticed he was there. The fact that he was also staring right at us as we walked up to the restaurant was an additional point of amazement. You all are in our prayers as well.
